Larne Methodist Wednesday Club

The Wednesday Club meets from 8.00 to 10.00 every Wednesday evening for bowls, an epilogue taken by a club member, a cup of tea or coffee and a good chim wag.

The bowling is purely for fun and though we have a number if league bowlers among our members no one in the club takes it too seriously.  We have nearly 20 members who attend for a bit if relaxation and fellwoship at the end of the day and anyone wishing to join always receives a warm welcome.

More about the Wednesday Club

For those who don’t know about us, we are the undiscovered secret that ‘Life begins at 40 (or 50, or whatever)’.  Bowling is just part of what we do; mainly it’s just talking.

Seriously, we play bowls every Wednesday night (in the Larne church hall) from 8 p.m. until about 10.00 p.m., with a break for a cup of tea and a biscuit.  We are a mixed bunch of ladies and men, we don’t play in any leagues or ‘friendlies’ or any competitions whatsoever.  Not that we don’t have players capable of such competitions, we just want to keep it as a fun night.  Our ability range is, as they say, from the sublime to the ridiculous, and those of us who come in the latter category can blame it on the rest, for they trained us!

So, if you are free on a Wednesday night and you want a bit of exercise and a bit of craic, come and join us.  Even if you have never played before, come along - one of our experts will train you to play as badly as us.
